*STATEMENT* Dave White Statement Philadelphia Vaccine Mandate

December 14, 2021
Ridley Park, Pa. – Republican candidate for Governor Dave White (R-Delaware) issued the following statement in response to the City of Philadelphia’s new order to require proof of COVID vaccination at restaurants and most dining locations.
Dave White said: “Requiring hosts and hostesses, waiters and waitresses to become vaccination police does nothing to improve public health and will only put another roadblock in the way of economic recovery.  Our small restaurants and businesses are having enough trouble rebounding after Governor Wolf’s disastrous COVID mandates decimated their industry, but city officials somehow think this is a positive step toward normalcy.  Our local, state, and federal officials should focus on effective public health policies like encouraging vaccinations, not a defacto deputization of restaurant staff that will do nothing but exacerbate economic distress.”
As reported by Axios, local Philadelphia business groups have expressed serious concerns over the potential impact of this new regulation.  Ed Grose of the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association noted that hotels have seen an “uptick” in hotel stays but expects a “negative financial impact” from this regulation, calling it a “setback.”  Jabari Jones of the West Philadelphia Corridor Collaborative went further, saying “how do we make sure businesses effectively don’t get screwed.”
